The Adventure Photography Edition

What do you think when you hear the word Adventure Photography?

Photography is a broad topic and professionals tend to specialize in a few different fields of photography. For example, the nature of landscape photography requires that photographers go out to explore the great outdoors. Finding those the perfect spot to capture those vast rolling green fields, endless mountain ranges, and beautiful lakes require a lot of preparation and planning.

An open conversation about Adventure Photography.

The search for the perfect point of view pushes many landscape photographers to the edge – sometimes literally. This extreme type of landscape photography is known as Adventure Photography. In my opinion, the main difference between Landscape and Adventure photography is the inherent risk associated with capturing an image. In this series, I will have the pleasure of talking to three Adventure Photographers: Paul Zizka, Jill Sakowsky, and Tammy Mackenzie. We will talk about their beginning in adventure photography, their go-to camera gear, and share a few insights about how to start a photography business.

Get with the program:

In the first week (June, 4th), I will talk to Paul Zizka about his experience as a full-time landscape and adventure photographer. We will also talk about photography as a career option and how he managed to create a successful business following his passion.  For the second session (June, 11th), I will speak with Jill Sakowsky about her trajectory as a photographer. She is an eclectic photographer and a nature lover. You can always find Jill exploring the beautiful outdoors; whether exploring the Canadian Mountains Ridges, snowshoeing through the open valleys, or paddling through the lakes.  In the last week (June, 18th), I will chat with Tammy Mackenzie about her adventures as a solo female traveler across over 100 different countries spread in 7 different continents.
