The beginning of a dream
December 31st of 2019. That was the date I decided to quit my full-time job to open my own company. At that time, all I had was a vision and a ton of will-power.
January started quite well, I quickly landed my first couple of clients, and everything was moving fast. The vision – a one-stop-shop for solving creative problems – for my business was shaping accordingly. I was busy from January to March. During this time I worked on creating adds for a Filtration Company, developing the visual identity for a realtor, and creating a web-design for a cosmetic company. I could not believe how well everything was moving forward, it felt like 2020 would be the perfect year.
Introducing Sars-Cov-2
That was until Sars-CoV-2 decided to stop the global economy. I’m fortunate to be just starting my entrepreneur journey, as I don’t have to worry about employees’ health and paychecks. But, I have seemed the devasting impact of this pandemic in small businesses. During these two months, I saw friends losing their jobs while others decided to close down their businesses for good.
It is shocking to see how quickly this pandemic is changing our society. We moved from a growing economy with a low unemployment rate to almost 15% of the US population out of jobs. I can feel the impact of this on my own business. The social distance and quarantine made it impossible to network and find new clients, and right now small businesses are struggling to keep their lights on.
The comeback kid.
However, I have decided to keep moving forward despite all the bad news. Fortunately, we are living in the internet era and we have several learning opportunities available at our fingertips. I finished my certification in Graphical Design and SEO, and now I’m creating a Web-Series focused on interviewing different photographers on YouTube (RSVP your spot now).
I can’t wait to move past this pandemic and to use all the knowledge gathered during this crazy time. And I can assure you that this virus will not put an end to my goal.
